Description

Dlubal SHAPE THIN is a stand-alone program that determines the cross-section properties of thin open- or closed-walled sections, including cold-formed sections, and performs stress analysis and plastic design. SHAPE-THIN includes a connection option to RFEM 5 and RSTAB 8: SHAPE-THIN sections are also available in the library of the FEA software or the frame and truss analysis software; and vice versa, you can import and design internal forces from RFEM and RSTAB in SHAPE-THIN. SHAPE-THIN includes an extensive library of rolled and parameterized sections. They can be combined or supplemented with new elements. Cross-section modeling consisting of different materials is possible.

Graphical tools and functions allow the modeling of complex cross-sectional shapes in a manner typical of CAD programs. Graphical input allows the setting of point elements, fillet welds, arcs, parametric rectangular and circular sections, ellipses, elliptical arcs, parabolas, hyperbolas, splines and NURBS. Alternatively, a DXF file can be imported, which is used as a basis for further modeling. You can also use instructions for modeling.

Features and functions of the Dlubal SHAPE THIN program

  • Cross-section modeling through elements, sections, arcs and point elements
  • Extensive library of material properties, yield strength and limiting stresses
  • Cross-sectional characteristics of open, closed or non-connected sections
  • Ideal cross-sectional properties of sections composed of different materials
  • Determination of welding stresses in fillet welds
  • Stress analysis including primary and secondary torsion design
  • Checking c/t ratios
  • Effective sections
  • SHAPE-THIN determines the cross-sectional properties and stresses of any open, closed, fabricated, or unconnected cross-section.
